Weekend in Vilnius in homophobic vicinity

There is a modest hill in Vilnius with a sacral and patriotic symbol of Lithuania – Gediminas Tower. (Gediminas was a Grand Duke who founded Lithuanian capital-Vilnius). Since the hill has lost it defense function it was covered by a forest for years. This year in early spring the trees were cut due 2 reasons: first – to make it like it was before in 1323, the second – to stop soil erosion. This decision in the beginning met a lot of critics, people did not like the „bold hill“ in March.

When later green grass covered the hill it inspired us to make a picnic there for our deers, painted and animated citizens of Polyfield. "Weekend in Vilnius" is also a scene from our next animated documentary tale we are making now.

While painting it the Baltic Pride in Vilnius has happened in the end of July. It has caused a hysteric homophobic reaction of a bigger part of society, state and city authorities.
