Key to P10-B 'pork barrel' scam in Phl
Senator TG Guingona, chair of the Senate blue ribbon committee looking into the multibillion anomalies, was referring to Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged brains behind the multibillion-peso controversy.
Guingona stressed that Napoles’ testimonies before the committee could unearth more anomalies involving lawmakers from both houses of Congress.
Guingona issued the statement a few minutes after the hearing was suspended with Benhur Luy and other whistleblowers as witnesses.
During the hearing, Luy told the committee that it was Napoles who put up fake nongovernment organizations (NGOs) as conduit for the anomalous release of funds of lawmakers.
Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada were charged with plunder before the Office of the Ombudsman.
The case was based on the testimonies before the committee of Commission on Audit (COA) chairperson Grace Pulido-Tan.
Aside from Enrile, Revilla and Estrada, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said a second complaint would be filed before the Ombudsman with other lawmakers and government officials as respondents to plunder charges.
De Lima said justice department and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Manila are currently looking into the involvement of other lawmakers in the scam.
