I am a 44 year old small town American and I have never had any kind of health insurance the only time I have ever been able to see a doctor is when I went to the Emergency Room with the flu. Concurrently after I would receive treatment in the ER I would receive a bill in the excess of a $1000 dollars in which I could not afford to pay and prescriptions whose cost were so high getting them filled meant spending more money than I had. When I hear about people who are able to get preventative health care and dental care visits I wonder what planet I am on because if I was to pursue these services I would have no paycheck. If the affordable care act will allow Americans like myself access to affordable healthcare then I am all for it bar none.
