This iReport is part of an assignment:
Obamacare: Your story
I'll Buy When Obama Buys
My personal reason was that the company continued to increase the required hourly rate of pieces produced until I worked myself into physical distress from which I cannot recover. I now have PPD's (Permanent Partial Disabilities) that extremely limit the type of work I can perform. After the allowed healing time when I returned to my employer with permanent work restrictions from my doctor, I was told I was being relieved of my full time benefited position because I could no longer perform the necessary duties to fulfill that position, and there was no other full time position available in the entire company that would accommodate my work restrictions. In the next breath they offered me a seasonal part time unbenefited position in a different department with no guaranteed wages.
Now working for a different company, I earn 1/3 of what I used to and I have NO benefits. I can barely pay my current bills and purchase my medications as it is. I am struggling to get assistance from the Social Security Disability Program, and that process in and of itself is more that a full time job.
"My" government says I MUST participate in an insurance plan or be fined. In this government "by the People, for the People" I am angered and frustrated that the "People who represent the People" are forcing Obamacare on the People who do not want it or cannot afford it, and those originating " People" will not also be a participant nor be forced to be a participant of this outrageous idea that does nothing more than add another office to the federal government. So it is apparent that now in the USA, all People are NOT created equal. I don’t see anywhere in the U S Constitution where it says I must purchase a medical insurance plan of some type in order to be a citizen.
Why is it that insurance companies could not negotiate and offer these new programs to the public on their own? Because now the federal government is going to force unwilling People to purchase insurance, coaxing a significant portion of them with a subsidy, so the People can use their subsidy money plus some of their own money to pay insurance premiums! Hey Hey for the insurance giants! Can’t wait to hear them report their ever-increasing record quarterly earnings!
And, by the way, in the real world, if you worked for a company and "lost" $67 Million of company funds, I don't think you would still have a job..
