Weekends in America
You Win Some- You Lose Some
Then came the most important game of the year—the Victory Bell Game. Oroville High School won the coin toss and chose to receive the ball. Then they dropped the ball. When the ball was kicked during the opening play, the receiver fumbled the ball. It was an uphill battle for the cats the rest of the night.
While the Tigers kicked the first field goal, scoring the first three points of the game; the Thunderbirds ran the first official touchdowns. The Tigers spent the rest of the night chasing after the mystical birds.
At half-time, while the teams were regrouping on their strategies—and the Tigers were licking their wounds—a great show was put on by the cheerleaders and LPO Band. The award-winning band consists of students from both Oroville and Las Plumas High Schools.
Once the show was over, it was game on. Oroville’s James Jones tried to make it happen for his team, but the Mighty T-Birds shut him and the rest of the cats out of the end zone. When it was all said and done, the score was Las Plumas 21, Oroville 10.
