Years ago I worked for the county. after the cost of insurance my take home pay was three hundred dollars a month. So I would have to work more than one full time job. after a prodding from my employer to cut the second job I attempted to get private insurance. the insurance agent told me after a months waiting time that he had talked to the underwriters and they said go ahead and cut the policy I was covered. I did only to find out a month later that I wasn't and now I was uninsurable.. this went on for two years then my wife had to have a surgery the cost was triple that of someone insured. I worked off the cost with the surgeon and the hospital (that is a huge story in itself ) anyway I ended up quitting my county job so that I could pursue one with insurance. got it and then a couple of years ago we lost it due to job cutbacks. they wanted 2500.00 a month with a three month non refundable window for a 5000.00 deductible major hospitalization only.. Now I have read the news stories telling everyone that there are states that have had insurance exchanges where citizens could get full coverage with no or low deductibles for as little as twenty a month..( I sure wish I would have known that before I would have moved to those states years ago). But luckily I will be able to buy a good policy with a reasonable deductible and reasonable rates on Tuesday.. Go obamacare. What gets me is how people don't see it.. Clinic's turn away patients sending them to the ER lets take one test if there is one third turned away at two thousand lets take a hundred patients that would be 33 so a net loss or net gain of 66 thousand. now they have to go to the er which would double the cost 264 thousand that the hospital would have to pass along to not only the insurance companies but to the customers as well including the doctors with increased costs. Affordable health care is really the answer to runaway medical costs. I still think they should open the borders. One pill shouldn't be ten times higher in the us than in Canada lets say. I realize that the pharmaceutical companies need to gain back research money. with that argument I think they should pass that cost to all customers in every country that they sell the pill in rather than just the american middle class. Congress should also quit giving research grants as well.
It is about time for them to think about america rather than some other country.
