Pup Scouts of DP Family (Troop 4) walked in Strut Your Mutt to Benefit Best Friends Animal Society on September 28, 2013 and were thrilled to be awarded the "Golden Mutt Award". This award is given to the group that raised the highest amount of money that goes directly to Best Friends Animal Society. This group of pups most of which were sporting their Uniforms adorned with their earned badges and some wearing hats (some "regulation" beanies and some pillboxes) raised almost $2000 to date. This was one of several planned fundraising activities in the Pup Scout 2013-2014 calendar. The Pup Scouts attend monthly meetings held in various locations in New York and also have field trips. There is also a large and growing online presence for the Pup Scouts. The Scouts attended a Movie Night Event this past July and a thrilling afternoon this past August as they rode Deno's Wonder Wheel, visited the Coney Island History Project and had hot dogs at Nathans. Many more activities are planned for the future. This group of Pup Scouts and their humans are having the best time and are Making Memories. The Pup Scouts recite a pledge at the beginning of every meeting highlights of which state the desire to "help the dog community and make humans smile.". They are surely accomplishing this one paw at a time. For more information contact www.pupscouts.org. Photo Credit: Richard Alicea
