This iReport is part of an assignment:
Shutdown over: What next?
Consequences to their actions
Whether or not the government should or should not have shut down or whether Obamacare should or should not have been put into law isn't my only problem here.
My problem is the lack of consequences to those who govern this country in the event a closure occurs.
IMHO...there should be an immediate consequence to the actions of the President and the Congress.
Not waiting for a far off day when they may or may not be re-elected.
The American public, unfortunately, doesn't seem to have a long memory when it comes to our elected officials. What may rub us wrong today will be easily forgotten by the next election. And even so, when it seems most of us find ourselves voting for the least of two evils, we are still voting for evil.
So make the penalties happen immediately.
In this case...
Since many other employees of the federal government are not to be paid, so should it happen to the Congress and President.
At least then they be forced to figure things out before it gets to this, instead of playing politics at the expense of our soldiers and citizens.
