This iReport is part of an assignment:
Shutdown over: What next?
Disappointed in Americans
- rachel8, CNN iReport producer
We have all these debates in Congress, Healthcare, Immigration, Debt Ceilings. We basically HIRE these people to work for us, I am currently unemployed and would do anything for work. However I cant imagine going into work and shutting down my "store" because I don't agree with my boss. I would be fired! no questions asked.
My confusion come in with the American people, why do we vote these people in year after year after year? If you had an employee that continuously took "perks" yet did a half hearted job would you not fire them?
When will the American people stand up and say enough is enough? The answer sadly is we won't, this county is so divided between Red/Blue yet everyone complains. Americans tend to forget and say "its not my problem" yet the STATUE OF LIBERTY is closed down! thousands are out of work. When is Americas breaking point? We cant provide decent benefits to the men and woman whom serve this county. We cant take care of the poor. Our leader shut down the federal government because they "don't agree" yet we sit there and watch CNN and say "this is ridiculous" grant it there are people that will vote Red/Blue until there last breath on principal.
I dont blame the President, I don't blame Congress I blame the move on and forget about it attitude of the American People. We are a joke all around the world once again, we seem to shrug it off.
Until the American people stand up and say we had enough, we cant expect change! Term Limits Americans love the idea yet, whom sends letters or presses the issues? We have e mail, twitter, Facebook. Yet how many of you have sent a letter of disgust about this shut down? About Immigration or helping the poor? I bet not many of you and until "we the people" say we have had enough then don't go to bed thinking tomorrow will be any different for our children! I blame Americans for this mess!
