Shutdown over: What next?
Unexpected Gain due to Furlough
- nsaidi, CNN iReport producer
Tuesday morning we were all told to show up for work as usual and conduct an orderly shut down which included signing our furlough notices. The amount of chatter was energizing. Most people were looking forward to a few days off. Then it happened. The same people I was paid to spend 40 hours a week with and hardly knew started making plans to get together during the furlough. Some made plans for lunch, others for pedicures and a bunch were going to the movies. It was nice to see how the furlough was working in a way I could not have imagined. Yes, the furlough has done something that has not been done in years in the federal work place it has raised morale.
