Kids Talk About Bullying
The article was about a children’s book company pledging to donate all of the proceeds from their Bullies: Playground Push-Around Kindle E-Book & iTunes App. The goal is to donate $100,000 to four organizations making a stand against bullying.
Now, back to my original point why this article hit home with me so much.
I have never said this before anywhere else or told anyone, but I was bullied growing up in elementary and middle school. It started out small, being called names and being picked last.
Then in middle school it turned much worse, I started getting shoved and hit on a regular basis. I tried to get help from the teachers, but they didn’t seem to care much. It got to a point where I would tell my parents that I was sick just so I didn’t have to go to school.
This would go on for another year with nothing being done. My parents even talked to the school administrators and just like the teacher’s couldn’t solve the problem, either could anyone else in the school.
After I completed the seventh grade, my parents had enough and I was sent to another school on the other side of town.
That was the single most important moment of my life looking back on it. I fit in great at the new school and made new friends that I still have today.
There are a lot of kids that might not be as lucky as me to have this happen. That is why I thought what this company is doing really made me feel good. You don’t see that much in the society we are living in today, people really wanting to make a difference in the world.
