CNN PRODUCER NOTE Lynda Nowak is sad that her 8th-grade daughter, Victoria, pictured, couldn't go on a school trip to Washington that her class had been planning for months. Instead of spending three days touring the nation's capital, the students found out that the trip was cancelled as news of the shutdown began to spread. Lynda Nowak is hoping that the trip can be rescheduled. She is proud of her daughter and the students, who marched with their principal in a peaceful protest that was covered by the local news. 'The school principal helped organize a march, where the kids could truly learn about their First Amendment right to freedom of speech, to tell the government exactly how they were affected. The signs were wonderful, not politically driven. Just stating the facts: Hey guys, you messed up our trip!'
