I'm in disbelief that there has been NO media coverage featuring the civilian federal employees who are being held hostage by this Shutdown. I've heard about memorials, monuments, and national parks closing, one report of a "poor" woman who has been so inconvenienced and will not be able to hold her wedding at the Grand Canyon. BIG WHOOP! Has everyone forgotten about sequestration and the furlough that followed for the 2013 fiscal year? Oh yeah that's right! Federal employees were forced to give up 20% of their pay, that has only JUST ended. My husband is a veteran U.S. Marine, and now a civilian air traffic controller for the DOD. We were hit with furlough for the entirety of summer. We have seen only TWO paychecks returned to full pay, and now because of these fools in D.C. who are "playing" political games, my husband is forced to work without pay until further notice, while others have been forced to go home without the possibility of back pay at all. We have eaten away at our savings trying to make up for what we were losing out on during furlough. We have yet to recover financially and yet here we are shouldering the burden of government shutdown yet again. Tell me Congress, Mr. President, what is my family supposed to do when we can't afford the gas to put in our car that takes my husband to work? When our rent is due and our bills come in? Should we follow your lead and write off everyone with and IOU? What about when my child needs diapers, or when my family needs to eat? Should we get on welfare like everyone else? The REAL story lies with the the REAL victims of government "Let Down", who are being raped of our life and liberty. This is no game to us, and we do not appreciate for one minute being toyed with and being used as pawns in this political "game" as the media has so kindly put it.
