    Salute to troops

    Never Forget

I was just listening to Lee Brice's song "I Drive Your Truck" , I know this song is about a military person lost, but it reminds me of both a military man, but also a police officer who I and others lost. This really got me though thinking about a Army soldier I met when I was at a bar at the Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport, TX
He was in uniform and we talked. He was getting ready to be "shipped" to Afghanistan/middle east. He was about 23 yrs old, from Kansas. I will never forget. I asked if he was scared, he said "no, I just want to come home and meet a woman and have a life." He asked me if I was single. I said yeah but not ready for another man, just lost my husband who was a police officer who died in the line of duty. He said "Sorry to hear that." But he still had hope, he asked, "How old are you?" and I said "old enough to be your older sister." I didn't want to push it. But, I hear Luke Brice's song, "Driving Your Truck" it kicks my heart, I think of that soldier driving his truck, in the country, meeting his sweetheart cruising in his truck..
