CNN PRODUCER NOTE alippoli, an employee for the Department of Labor, says she fully expected everything to be resolved Tuesday morning, but she was shocked to see that the government shutdown and that she was being furloughed. ' I couldn’t believe Congress would really let this happen. Last year we came close, and it all blew over at the last minute, so I figured that would happen again,' she said. She says not receiving her paycheck is putting financial strain on her and her family. ' I am the primary financial supporter for me and my husband, Salvador, who is from Costa Rica and moved to the United States last October so we could get married,' she said. Since they are already living on a tight budget, she says they are trying not to spend any money while the government is shutdown. But she also wants to make it clear that she does support the Affordable Care Act and this shutdown will not deter her support. 'Why do people have to choose between rent and groceries, or paying for medication and a doctor’s visit? Making me and my family personally suffer is not going to make me suddenly incredibly selfish want to sacrifice all the people who don’t have healthcare just so I can get back to work,' she said. 'If the ACA was taken away from us, then I would feel not only robbed of my paycheck, but of the Democratic process entirely.'
