Obamacare: Your story
Updated: What the ACA means for me! Shutdown a disgrace!
- dsashin, CNN iReport producer
My name is Sean Korbitz and I have a genetic mutation known as VHL or Von-Hippel Lindau syndrome that involves the uncontrollable growth of tumors, both benign and malignant, in my body. I had a brain tumor in 2007 on the base of my brain stem, and that was removed completely and successfully. I currently have over half a dozen tumors/lesions in my pancreas and have since been considered to insurance companies as having a "preexisting condition." This pretty much eliminates most coverage for treatments, scans and surgeries that I need to remove any tumors in my body.
**Update: I am pleased and saddened that I went ahead and paid out of pocket for my MRI's because they revealed that I have SIX tumors on my brain stem and multiple lesions on my spine. It appears now that along with the kidney cancer, my life depends on Obamacare.
