I hope this message can be passed along to everyone in Washington - the President, Congress, Senate, the House, and anyone else I may have forgotten: On behalf of all Americans, I strongly urge all of you to set aside your differences and come to an agreement on a budget and to raise the debt ceiling, even though it's a shame that that is the only way to keep the country going, but if that's what has to be done then I urge you to do it. I am still employed but I may become permanently unemployed if you do not take action. Also my parents depend very heavily on Social Security and Medicare and I would appreciate if you would do everything you can to keep funding for those services. No disrespect intended, but I feel that your constant disagreement, refusal to compromise or give in even a little to the other side, and doing nothing but blaming the other side, can be compared to the following illustration: A group of firefighters arrive at the scene of a house fire, there are people trapped on the second floor, and they will die within minutes if they are not rescued quickly. But the firefighters cannot agree on which ladder to use to climb up to resuce the people or which hose to use to put out the fire, so they keep arguing and refusing to give in to the others. Meanwhile the people in the house die while the firefighters go on arguing. Please do not let this happen to America!! With all due respect, you are all adults so I would appreciate if you would start acting like adults. Please do your job so I can keep doing mine. Thank you for your attention.
