I am a US Arny Veteran with multiple deployments to Afghanistan. I loved serving my country, but in 2006 I became a single father with three kids under the age of four. I was honorably discharged and receieved a disability rating of 60% for injuries relating to combat. I went from an E6 in the Army to making 10.00 an hr to provide for my family. The VA assistance helped us back on our feet. I now have a MA degree and a pretty decent job, but not one that equates to a MA level education. I have been lucky enough to remarry and correct all of the issues (mostly credit) that my ex wife left me with. She had decided to take loans out in my name while I was overseas. So, this past couple of months my wife and I have been house shopping and we finally found a home suitable for our family. We are so close to the American dream, but this shutdown could destroy all of that. At some point with no resolution my VA loan will not be approved, my VA disability that we rely on will not come, and I will be again fighting to rebuild my credit when bills come late. I did everything I was supposed to. I fought for my country, went to school, and while in school and after graduating I have continued to work. I waited for the right time to buy a house. I ensured we were financially ready and made the responsible choices. I just cannot believe that every year we have to fear losing our home, being an illness away from being in debt, and that a US Veteran cannot have the American Dream because of his own government. I think that it is time voters make a serious change and vote out those who threaten the livelihood of Americans and our Veterans. We pay our lawmakers to do a job and if they cannot meet their deadlines or do their job effectively then it is time to fire them. Finally, I fear that this fight against Obamacare as the reason why the shutdown has me very concerned. Whether I agree or not, the bill passed both the House and the Senate. Further, the nation voted the President in for a second term knowing full well the Obamacare bill would be in play. Therefore, it should have nothing to do with the shutdown. An investigation should be conducted into where the idea came from to hold the nation hostage and what the true purpose is. I believe that the result would be an issue of a severe lack in integrity as well as inpropriety. We simply need to follow the money!
