A recent change from one seasonal job to another should normally be a no-hassle situation, but due to the shutdown, the company I was hired at cannot file my I-9. They can't verify that I am who I say I am, so I can't get my Employee ID number (to clock in and do other tasks) and since there is no number/employee record to track, I won't get paid. That's "fine" if this is resolved as of yesterday, but by the looks of it our government is going to be in limbo for a while. I'll have to resort to borrowing money, opening a credit card (if they can even process that) or simply not going to work because I won't have the money to do so. And of course, there are plenty of monthly bills that will be due in the next week or two.
