As day four of the government shutdown comes to an end I find myself thinking of that dangerous childhood game tug-of-war where children have lost fingers, thinking of a wishbone that breaks and the winner is declared to be the one holding the larger piece, thinking of thumb war "one, two, three, four (on this fourth day of the crisis) I declare a thumb war, and I am also thinking of that game rock, paper, scissors or as the characters on The Big Bang Theory adapted it, rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock. I find myself thinking in true compromise who will be left holding the rope, who will be injured, and those already injured, who will be holding the large half fo the wishbone and what did they wish for? Thinking what if we could solve this over a beer, glass of wine and spin the bottle or a thumb war? or rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock. If life was simple. Realizing those that got voted into "power" really only have that power we give them and that we can take it away at the next election if they abuse it or represent their own self interests above being a servant to The People. I wonder if Congress and the President forgot to read and remember in Kindergarten, as the book was aptly titled "All I really need to learn I learned in kindergarten" So I guess the question tonight on this Friday the 4th is what does Congress and the President need to do to avoid the Big Bang that implodes our country's financial stability...(no pun intended: Tag your it)
