This iReport is part of an assignment:
Hurricane season 2013
Riding The Storm Out
I am currently at work on the Transocean drillship Discoverer Inspiration. We are working for Chevron in the Green Canyon area about 130 miles south of Houma, Louisiana. The Discoverer Deep Seas is about a mile away from us.
We are staying on location to ride out tropical storm Karren. We are still attached to the sea floor through the riser system but we are ready to detach if we need to.
The waves are running about 15 feet and it is raining.
The dynamic positioning system is keeping everything fairly steady, so far. You can feel some wave action and they have added dramamine to the menu. You really notice the waves when you look at the other rigs in the area.
We are safe and sound and now I have a certain song stuck in my head.
