So Hard to Say Goodbye
It's never easy to watch families go through this, especially when it is my own. An hour before he Deployed, We brought our family to the park on post. We thought perhaps the distraction of the park could keep our spirits a little higher. It was nice spending those last minutes we had laughing and playing as a family together as if it was a normal afternoon. But then the moment came to say goodbye. I cannot describe the overwhelming emotion of seeing him hug and kiss our children goodbye. He dropped to his knees & tears fell from his eyes. It reminds me of the saying that Freedom is Never Free. Sometimes I think about how hard my job is to stay behind to raise the children alone while he is away, then I see him cry as he hugs the children so tight not wanting to let them go, and I cannot imagine being in his shoes. For all the men & women and families who serve, Thank You!
