This iReport is part of an assignment:
Who taught you to love food?
Rahim Daya: My Love of Food
My grandmother taught me the importance of fresh ingredients and taking the time to properly prepare a dish.
The respect she taught me for the ingredients I use is a big part of who I am as a chef. My staff and I are mindful to use as much of an item as possible, with little waste in our kitchen. The philosophy with my cooking is fresh first. We don't freeze or pre-make our ingredients, its all fresh.
Today I posted a photo of a signature dish at my restaurant, and its named after my grandmother Seema.
It's called Seema's Golden Curry and is made with turmeric and ginger.
