Romanian violence against stray dogs
In Romania, some people that aren't so attached to animals seem to have started a war against stray dogs and sometimes dog owners. It is more and more dramatic day by day, to see news about mutilated, beaten, poisoned stray dogs, and they seem to be defenceless because romanian law for animal rights it's neither respected or applied. Romanian people are worried about the evolution of this critical situation which appears to be out of control and ask for international help, like in the letter I received today from a romanian citizen.
I'm writing to you because I don't know who else to write about this wave of violence against stray dogs in Romania. I am very very sad because day by day I hear about beaten dogs, poisoned dogs or killed with brutality. I can't stand this suffering anymore. This is against animal rights. Something must be done, but the media and politicians are with the eyes shut and ears covered, they seem not be be interested by this subject and ignore the massive violence and brutality which is unleashed in the streets of Bucharest and romanian cities, people are acting crazy like in a middle age country.
Besides the terrible law of mass euthanasia, the stray dogs are beaten, mutilated and killed. I think a lot of people, in their ignorange, misunderstood this euthanasia law as a law that gives free hand to psychopaths in killing dogs without being punished.
Please help us!
We need international help and support, without you and european influence, the stray dogs will end murdered in the streets or shelters.
In the attachement there is a picture of a female dog found in the streets of Bucharest two days ago, mutilated. She was brought to surgery and now feels a little better. She didn't deserve this pain, she is a very friendly dog.
