    Aftermath of Seaside Park Fire

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     erinnnfarley visited the site of the Seaside Heights boardwalk fire two weeks later: 'This experience was a tough one for me to deal with because of how many memories I have on that boardwalk but it was amazing to speak with people who were there to reflect, remember, and rebuild. Seaside Park was where I spent so many summer days as a child. We would get pizza at the Sawmill, candy at the Taffy shop, and ice cream at Kohr's. Revisiting the boardwalk after the fire was devastating and really touched home for me. I'll never forget when I walked onto the boardwalk and saw all the damage, just lying there, it was in a way, my childhood in ashes. One of the first things I saw in the rubble was the metal from the Carousel. Hurricane Sandy took away the roller coaster and now the fire took away the carousel, those were two well-known rides on the boardwalk. But it was an amazing story to cover because though this fire took away so much, it reminded so many people of how perfect the Jersey shore really is.'

Seaside Park, a community devastated by Hurricane Sandy, was once again put to the test.

Faulty wiring at a Kohr's ice-cream shop started a fire and wind-whipped flames spread the fire along the boardwalk, destroying more than 50 businesses.

I visited Seaside Park and spoke with people who had a lifetime full of memories at the shore and a witness whose business was right across the street from the fire.
