Both of my parents taught me to love food. In my family, cooking for someone is a way to show love and affection. The one thing my parents showed me is that you don’t always need to follow a recipe (unless you’re baking). Think of the recipe as more of a guide and add what you think might taste good. Keeping this in mind means I’m not as flustered when I don’t have all of the ingredients a recipe calls for. I make substitutions with what I think might work. Not every dish is a success, but it’s usually pretty fun!
