King Soopers Does A Community Good At The 2013 Health & Wellness Expo Denver
On October 5th, downtown Denver felt just a little bit healthier. King Soopers and City Market, along with The Denver Channel and CU Health Partners at the University of Colorado brought a community together to talk health and visually show people how
to live a better life.
Featuring speakers like real doctors turned TV personalities, Dr. Mehmet Oz and
Dr. Travis Stork, to Next Food Network Star winner and host of Food Network's
10 Dollar Dinners, Melissa d'Arabian, the event was a paradise for those who suffer with celiac disease or a gluten intolerance with food samples from over 200 exhibitors and only five bucks to walk in the door. A few of the many services offered on-site at the event included low or no-cost flu shots, health screenings and a mammography van.
Talks by Dr. Oz and Dr. Stork contained a similar underlying theme. Eat healthy, exercise and get eight hours of sleep every night. We all know this but we need experts like Dr. Oz and Dr. Stork to remind us and help us along. Chef and TV personality, Melissa d'Arabian is a rising star to watch. She's the real deal. A tiny dynamo who possesses seemingly endless energy and a savvy money-saving mind did a book signing after her "salad in a jar" demonstration and gave away 100 copies of her new cookbook,
10 Dollar Dinners.
The front entrance was decorated with artfully crafted displays of colorful vegetables, including a 638-pound pumpkin grown here in Colorado. Vendors offered delicious samples of their wares including everything from chicken sausage to gluten free pizza to a plethora of chips, crackers and granola bars. All visitors left with bags full to overflowing with coupons and healthy goodies to help kick-start living your best life.
