    Shutdown over: What next?

Since Park Service Won't, Guess I Will

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Dstroman told me it was definitely surprising for him to come across this as he was driving past the Lincoln Memorial: 'I have noticed the gated off sections and closures as the shutdown has progressed. And this morning I get caught at the light and see a man cutting the grass at the Lincoln Memorial I didn't know what was stranger at the moment, the fact that he was cutting the lawn or that he was holding the South Carolina state flag while cutting. It was a very unusual moment.' Sergeant Paul Brooks, spokesman for the U.S. Park Police told us, 'He was asked to leave and he did.' He was not ticketed or arrested. The man's name is Chris Cox, a Charleston, South Carolina resident. He told us, 'At the end of the day, the citizens are stewards of the memorials.'
