In 1977 I was in the US Air Force, stationed at Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA as a B-52 Crew Chief.

This was my first New Car ever, and me at 18 years old at the time, this was a real Chick Magnet. It was great around the Real Men I worked with since this car would run the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds and over 160 mph off the Show Room floor!

The only cars that could compete with it were the Toyota Supra, and Big V8's with a Super Charger or a Blower. It would easily outrun most stock cars and even a few modified larger V8 cars.

Not bad for a tiny 1146cc Wankle Rotary Engine, and a 4 barrell carburator. About the size of a Washing Machine Motor.

It retailed new for around $4200 (or $160 per month).

I also learned myself, You wind up the engine and drop the clutch in first gear, it would always jump off the ground 3 feet and bark the 2nd and 3rd gear when speed shifting. This was factory, and if modified, this car was extra quick for the time period.
