Shutdown over: What next?
Three floating news items attracts our attention today.
First , is the political news . Besides other news papers ‘ USA Today ‘ gave a big space for the picture in front page with the heading “ OBAMA NOMINATES YELLEN AS FED CHAIR “ . Not only American but Yellen’s picture became more attractive for Indian news papers also . Bravo !
As an outside observer , can say whatever Mr. President’s intention does not matter but at this point decision of choosing her is not wise .
Second , Indian Daily English news paper ‘The Hindu’ published the news demise of Telugu( south Indian language) actor Srihari in Leelavati hospital , Mumbai / Bombay . He was just 49 year old . Never know which news get how much priority and why .
Third , another eye catching scoop in ‘The Hindu’ titled as ‘ BAI WITHDRAWS JWALA GUTTA , ASHWINI FROM DENMARK OPEN ‘ . This unjustified decision of Badminton Association of India is shameful . But media just serving it as a piece of hot cake not as resentment .
Amidst all these repulsive hot cakes one can find one healthy bowl of soup in the daily Indian news paper ‘Times of India ‘ . The rubric is “STATES CAN’T CITE LAW AND ORDER TO BAN CLEARED FILMS: PANEL “ . In the context of arbitrary ban of films An empowered committee headed by Justice Mukul Mudgal, former chief justice of the Punjab and Haryana high court, has suggested that the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) be strengthened to act as a grievance redress mechanism.
Actually this news piece has deep relation with total functioning of the system . Take for example , in India all executive departments have been divided into three divisions . (a) Union (b) State & (c) Concurrent list . To curb local petty politics center always plays upper hand in applying these policies . But if center also biased or feels hapless having authority then who will give right judgement ?
Anyway , in today’s news ‘Times of India’ has played its role as true watch dog in a democracy .
