Young Artists Change Music Forever
Young artists have the gift to revolutionize and accelerate music with a fresh voice, lyrics, rhythm, sublime messages, and poetry. Because of their age, it's helped the business thrive by utilizing networks like Facebook, Twitter, and other popular networks to target ideal demographics and fan-base. They make up a huge piece of the pie in the industry, and it's not an easy business to be successful in - probably harder to break into than film. But, every now and then there comes a go-getter that will shock the world.
Who could forget August 2011, when 11 year-old Jackie Evancho walked front-and-center on the America's Got Talent stage and stunned everyone with such a mature, dynamic voice? Evidently, her runner-up place on AGT didn't matter since she's still performing at sold-out venues and selling lucrative records. Taylor Swift started off in her teens and became the youngest artist in history to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year when she was just 20. In 2011, Adele had sold the most albums of all artists in the United States - an impressive 1,070,000 albums. Chris Brown is a popular American R&B singer/song writer who made his first recording debut at the age of 16. Jaden and Willow Smith are following in their father's footsteps to stardom as young musicians, and a young Ariana Grande is drawing in serious crowds in recent years.
Canada proudly has its share of massive successes that integrated with airwaves in the states as well. R&B/Pop sensation Justin Bieber made a high climb shortly after his record breaking Youtube success (prior Gangnum Style). 7 out of 7 songs from his album My World made the Billboard Hot 100 and it only took him 22 minutes to sell out Madison Square Garden. Carly Rae Jepsen got her start on Canadian Idol and later in her career hit the top of the charts with her single Call Me Maybe. Now, after his debut Home of the Brave with artist DZA, we have 16 year-old R&B sensation Rezzi out to send a message across both sides of the border.
These artists set themselves up for success at a very early age and it's thanks to them that music continues to change, prosper, and live on. As music progresses, we'll bare witness the rise of a new star from time to time, but for now we have the privilege to see and listen as our stars Jackie, Taylor, Chris, Justin, Ariana, The Jonas Brothers and Rezzi continue to thrive and beguile us with the universal language that is music!
