This iReport is part of an assignment:
Shutdown over: What next?
Tourists and Business As Usual
I live in New York where in my opinion, the effects of the government shutdown are hardly noticed because of the influx of tourists.
Since day one of shutdown, it is surprising that Times Square has the same tourists every day and every night.
I had worked for the US government for 18 years, and had experienced a furlough during my early days with the American Embassy. I have friends at the American Embassy who are now affected by furlough. I feel sorry for them.
I am not an American, but I live here as a new immigrant and I wish that the US government will soon resolve this issue that has been affecting a lot of Americans and non-Americans around the world.
I think that we are all waiting to hear from the government to say "business as usual."
