Shutdown over: What next?
An Open Letter to the Politician's Running this Country (Shutdown)
To whom it may concern (Which I guess is no one right now.), This letter is reaching out to the men and women who represent a government for the people and by the people. Those with your lofty homes and offices that are taking advantage of the very people you represent by continuing to enjoy your life as it was before this "shutdown". Why don't you do something drastic or radical by showing you are part of the American team and go without? Like many Americans you are forcing to do just that. Unless it is a frightening thing to not be able to pay your mortgage or pay for you families' food. If this is a government by people and for the people then I am not impressed. I would prefer a government of the people and for the people would be a much better place to live. Why not live on an honest wage with a modest house? Millions of Americans are doing well with just that or less without the luxury taking a long vacation when they don't agree with their colleagues. So why don't you come out here and live with us for awhile and see what we're like? Come out of your gated communities that you live in and your fancy offices and see what ours look like. Because I'm frightened what this country is turning into and it is in all of the mirrors each of you look in everyday. Take a good hard look and think about who you stepped on to get where you are and what morals you had when you were a child that have fallen by the wayside on your rise to the top. Making asinine 20 hour speeches to kill time, pretending to be a martyr. While we have soldiers dying you play games and make decisions without taking into consideration those you represent. You think you are but unless you look a homeless vet in the eye who is self medicating from PTSD and can't pick up the pieces because of things he/she can't unsee or can't undo and take that walk with them or those with mental illnesses too afraid to get help because of the stigma associated with their conditions, you are neither of us nor are you for us! So while you continue to be a government by the people realize that is all I consider you to be, standing idly by while people are dying and living in conditions you wouldn't bare without your handmade suit. Realize we are not impressed with this team of politicians called Americans because you don't seem to be on my team when money has become more important than a human life although it might not mean solely our biological life, but the life our concern about the nature of this country, because it has spun out of control thanks to you who are on this paid vacation while some people are being evicted, playing this game with your colleagues using us as the game pieces. I would just like to say (like most people after an hour or two of Monopoly), I'm tired of this because its not fun anymore, and I'm tired of being used in this game and pushed around like the game pieces. I call for all of those holding high decision making positions to go unpaid during this shutdown to see how it feels to be on the same team as us, the others who you are working for and say that you are representing. I hope you get this message when you are back in that plush office with that team of other people helping you do your job. I encourage you to do it better because shutting down = giving up. You giving are up on us both you Democrats and Republicans = equals your constituents giving up on you. Sincerely, John Grossman from lower middleclass America
