Visiting Alaska in August has its own benefits. Not only does one get to see the beautiful fall colors but also abundant wildlife. This is the time when animals come out to prepare for hibernation. During my trip to Denali in August 2013 I saw around 9 grizzly and black bears, numerous moose, mountain goat, deers and bald eagles. I was in a bus and the driver had to stop the bus at times because bears would come down the hill and walk for sometime on the road before disappearing back in the wilderness. There were so many animals so close to the road to Kantishna that it seemed as if they are standing there just to pose for the tourists :) June and July is ofcourse beautiful in Alaska but if you wanna see the wildlife, end of August is the best time.
