In June, Virginia Beach comes alive with North American Sand Soccer Championship, a sand soccer festival that attracts 0,000 players in 70 gender and age divisions, including nine-year-old players. The city is the venue of the annual East Coast Surfing Championships (ECSC); a four-day surfing contest for men and women in professional and amateur categories held in late August at the Oceanfront.
