This iReport is part of an assignment:
Shutdown over: What next?
I now have Fibromyalgia however, and do rely on Social Security to help me get by. I have a son in the Marines. My father served in the Army. My mother has Alzheimers. Times can be tough but that’s life. But you know, I have always been VERY proud of my country. I don’t stand for anyone who shows disrespect for the US or our flag. God Bless the USA and all those who serve/have served. Now it looks as though our very own government may renege on our vets and the disabled benefits simply because they can’t balance a bigger checkbook. We too, understand tough times. Take a look at us. (Those you don’t think of often.) We care. Have you looked at the American people lately? Really looked? Have you talked basic common sense? You wish to take away monthly checks that we have learned to count on. Why not just ask the people for help? I know I’d rather give up half a check once a year or even 1 check now and then. That’s better then to never know what will ever happen! The unknown is frightening. If each of us did that…just imagine. I bet the people would help our country out, if you’d just let them. Quit over borrowing and let us slowly dig ourselves out of our own hole. I know others like me who would do this. I’m an American. And I care. Do you?
