Las Plumas-Oroville High School Band Wins Awards

The Las Plumas-Oroville (LPO) Marching Band participated in the first competition of the year in Sacramento on Saturday. Every top 10 band in northern and central California attended this competition.

Las Plumas High School Faculty reported that LPO band members were outnumbered by bands made up of up to 200 people. Nevertheless, the LPO band placed first and brought home the Overall Music Championship Award. Additionally, senior drum major Sammi Soukaseum won third place Military Drum Major, and the drum line placed fourth.

To top things off, the LPO Concert Band brought home a third place award, and Mr. Stratton was awarded the Outstanding Band Director of the day award.

In April, the LPO Band tied for first place with Inderkum High School of Natomas for the title of Champion Drum Line during the 2013 NorCal Championships. The competition was hosted by Las Plumas, and nearly 100 schools participated in the event.

    Congratulations LPO!
