    The Humans of NYComicCon

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     JDAlady, a New York Comic Con veteran told me, 'This year had more concurrent popular panels and events to cover. I missed William Shatner for a Doctor Who photo shoot! The convention seemed more organized with better vendors and booths this year. There was also more people walking around just to see the cosplayers. The costumed attendees have become their own exhibit.'

Surrounded by wolves, Dylan O’Brien stands as the lone human in the hit series Teen Wolf. Those who may be dismissive of television and ‘teen’ simply need to witness the show’s quick witted dialogue, along with Dylan’s natural and comedic repoire on camera. The blood lines do wreak havoc in a town with convenient woods and ample soundtrack.

“No, you stopped to bake it in a little werewolf oven.” – Stiles (Dylan O’Brien).

Also from this wolf town was Linden Ashby, the sheriff and father of Stiles. The sarcastic and endearing relationship between the two is a treasured fan favorite. At NYCC, when asked to film a quick birthday wish for a fan with an illness, Dylan was more than willing to oblige.

During the 20th anniversary reunion of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, an improved Mulder and Scully conversation ensued. When asked about his level of research for X-Files, Dukovney did note that would have been questionable since they never solved a case and probably broke every FBI regulation. At the end of their panel, the last audience question was a marriage proposal and the newly engaged couple was invited on stage.

The cast of Haven treated their audience with new season clips, a trouble song and a ‘speed wedding.’ With Emily Rose as the flower girl, the impromptu ceremony was officiated by Eric Balfour in Haven matrimony. Also at the convention, Felicia Day was on hand for autographs and general tomfoolery. A video of Sleepy Hollow’s NYCC experience can be seen here as it looks to be this season’s runaway hit.

John Barrowman drew large crowds and lines with his irresistibleness. When asked about his opinion on the continuation of Jack’s story, he shared the novel that he and his sister (Carole Barrowman) published. Exodus Code picks up after Miracle Day and gives readers more of the Captain’s misadventures. Closing the panel, John’s husband Scott come on stage in Superman gear and heroically carried off Barrowman into the sunset.

Under the lavish costume wear, we simply are all humans.
