This iReport is part of an assignment:
Shutdown over: What next?
Ducking for cover
If the coming default and recession are prolonged, I could lose my house, which still has a mortgage.
My son is in the air force and his career is on hold because the civilians who process government paperwork are on furlough.
My calculus on the problem is government is that we have a president who is willing to raise the debt limit. All the democrats are willing to raise the debt limit. Half the republicans are willing to raise the debt limit. Boehner is terrified of the other half and to protect his job, he's taking orders from the tea party. If a new recession comes out of this, it will be the Boehner default and the Boehner recession.
I'm a registered republican but I can't see any reason to vote republican ever again. I'm on social security and republicnans want to cut my social security and my medicare. My party is definitely not on my side.
The solutions to our national problem are to cut the defense budget and raise tax rates.
