This iReport is part of an assignment:
Photo essays: Your stories in pictures
Destroyed by the Earthquake
This is a picture that I took circa 2006. This is Baclayon Church, Bohol, Philippines. Today, it is a sorry site, along with several other centuries' old churches in Bohol and Cebu. It's a pity these old churches are destroyed, for their value extends beyond religion: art, culture and history. They are among the unique riches of these two provinces that make them worth visiting, a big help in the economy of the people. What makes this heartbreaking for me is that I have seen many of them years ago.
To the reader I leave the task to look in the Internet for the counterpart photo of the destroyed Baclayon Church since distance forbids me to take any photo.
What a friend of mine posted on my wall is so true: “Everything human passes away at times just with a whisper and at other times with a roar.” And this one came with a roar.
