Jim and I started married life 43 years ago, living in a one bedroom apartment, raising his two boys that he had sole custody of, and my son, who he adopted a year later. The boys slept in the bedroom, and we slept on a sofa bed in the living room. Jim worked for just under 50 years for the same concrete foundation construction company, carrying 10 foot forms on his shoulder and pouring concrete to build building foundations. For most of my life I worked second shift, as we could not afford a baby sitter for our 4 sons. I worked in factories, as a baker, and a janitor, I have unloaded railcars, and semi's. We have worked very hard and have built and paid for a $200,000 home, and accomplished the American dream with our hard work. We even managed to save $320,000 thousand dollars for our retirement. Here we are again, not able to sleep, worrying about losing our retirement nest egg, because the congress can't run the government. We have just recovered from the 2008 banking crisis, and are now using our retirement savings. We cannot understand why a small fraction of the House Republicans want to cause huge stock market losses for us by their actions. They are supposed to be elected to run the government, not destroy it.
