After visiting the Blue Lagoon spa on our first trip to Iceland, we toured the famous "Golden Circle" route on our second trip. We saw the beautiful Gullfoss Waterfall, the Strokkur geyser and geothermal area as well as Þingvellir National Park. Along the way we stopped to photograph the famous Grimsvotn volcano, that erupted in 2011 causing such chaos due to the ash clouds. I thought this photo that I took is so ironic, with the Grimsvotn volcano in the background, yet seeming so calm and peaceful.
