Thailand, Lao leaders offering prayers in Nong Khai

Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong is welcomed by Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

The two leaders met at Thailand's Nong Khai province at a Buddhist traditional ritual by offering prayers and alms to monks. The practice is traditional of both communities in Lao and Thailand.

The event importantly displays a joint observance of relations between the two countries

On the matter of the Lao Airlines tragedy, Yingluck has instructed local authorities in Ubon Ratchathani to do their best to assist Laotian officials at the crash site

The province is located in the valley of the Mae Nam Kong (Mekong River), which also forms the border with Lao People's Democratic Republic.
