ROUGH TIME IN AMERICA….. PUTTING INTO WORDS WHAT SO MANY WANT TO SAY!
Watching the news on TV over the past few years and personally witnessing how the government dealt with the banking/mortgage crisis, with so many people homeless and more losing their homes, with the various Middle East wars I got more and more angry. Our government representatives seemed more concerned with getting money to get elected, than the people who elect them. With the constant partisan political infighting, I got more and more frustrated with the people leading our country. Not Republicans or Democrats. Republicans AND Democrats. Mine is a bipartisan frustration.
When they shut down the government recently and discontinued services that was the last straw. When I realized that Congress made sure that they, the Congressmen still got paid, I thought to myself enough is enough and the song Rough Times in America just seemed to come together.
The music flowed quickly and the lyrics came easy. This is not a slick, Los Angeles record production....there are no big stars singing on the song.....no studio musicians; it is not backed by a big corporate record company or any political organization. I am an ordinary American expressing my frustration at the job the people running this country are doing, the only way I know how....through music. I made the video using video clips other Americans and organizations had posted to YouTube. The internet is a media outlet NO ONE can control.
If you agree with the message, share the page, music and video with your friends and family. Yes the song is available on iTunes and I hope you will download a copy for yourself. But if the response is good my plan is to donate a good portion of the proceeds to various charities that help struggling Americans.
People say, as an individual what I can do to change things....I said the same thing. Then I got started on this project and realized, maybe I can help get the message out. You can help spread the message. Share it with your friends and have them share it with their friends....that is how a movement gets started.....and we HAVE to start somewhere...why not here....why not now....Alvin Harrison
