BLUE ASH, Ohio
This iReport is part of an assignment:
Tell us the Good Stuff!
Blue Ash, OH does not enforce its noise ordinance.
The City of Blue Ash requires residents to go to court to request the city enforce its ordinance. With clear evidence of noise ordinance violation, they take no proactive action to address issues.
To compound matters, they permit the installation of equipment which violates their noise ordinance. The vent producing this noise was installed apparently as part of an Ohio Workplace Safety Audit. They fixed the noise issue in the factory and transferred the noise issue to the broader community. I guess once you have your factory, you are entitled to do what ever you want to the community...
This video was recorded at the perimeter of the factory, 5 feet off the ground. This is the point at which measurements are to be taken to determine whether there is a violation. The factory is located within a light industrial area. My home is well over 1/4 of a mile from the factory. I was sitting in my home with the windows closed and heard this noise, loud and clear. This was not the first time this level of noise has occurred, and will certainly not be the last time, unless the city gets serious about protecting the quality of life of its residents.
Interestingly, the city proudly advertises it was voted on of the top 50 cities in which to raise a family. But when factory noise, in violation of ordinances wakes people in the middle of the night...you wonder about the integrity of city officials and the groups which make the top city proclamations.
