CNN Fit Nation: 2014 Triathlon Challenge
New Career/New Challange
Hi, my name is Victor and I really want to be a part of the CNN triathlon challenge. The reason I want to be a part of it is because of the challange in and of itself and the fact that I need to stop neglecting my health. I’m 30 this year and I’ve worked and achieved some amazing things. I have a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance/Opera and I’m finishing my teaching certificate in Special Education this semester. While earning my degrees I’ve had to work two jobs. I substitute teach and wait tables. My family didn’t have the financial ability to help me pay for my education. I take a full course load at UNLV and I also am required to do practicum and professional development hours. It’s crazy! After this semester a long journey ends! I will have achieved everything that I sought out to do. I will be a full time special education teacher. I have two passions in life, teaching and singing. So as the formal educational journey of my life ends my career is just beginning. I’m going to only have one job, the weekends off, and it’s going to be a job that I love. So as this new journey begins what better way to jumpstart it then to focus on my health and getting fit. I also want to set a strong example for my students. I do think that setting healthy goals is important. I want to show my students that they can do anything if they set their minds to it.
