This iReport is part of an assignment:
Your 'Aha' weight-loss moments
Started at 360 now I am here
Eventually I would get a wake-up call from a physician during a routine checkup. At the age of 23 weighing 360 pounds I was informed that my blood pressure was at the range of possibly having a stroke. I am familiar with that condition because my aunt had suffered from one some years past. I was scared, so with the help of friends I began my journey to drop the pounds and live a healthier life. I had two beautiful boys to think about and I wanted to be around as they grew into men and started their own families. I joined a local gym and just started to run. Every day I would go to the gym and just run. As the weight slowly started to fall off I would become more and more motivated to see how far I can take it. It wasn’t easy because I still had a horrible diet and I didn’t have the knowledge of losing the weight properly. So my weight fluctuated and working in a mall with the tempting treats offered by the food court didn’t help me in my journey also. I had to break away from it and I did. The weight started melting over time. The moment I broke 300 pounds I was extremely proud of myself. I wanted to keep going further and further. Life was going great for. I was feeling amazing, I am healthier and I had just met my future wife the night of November 23rd 2011 after I left the gym. My now wife Tanya is a former 800 runner for LSU. She helped me so much with advice and motivation to continue reaching my weight lost goal. The knowledge she gained from her time as a runner was implemented in my routine and I can honestly say it help me achieve my goal. My goal was to reach 250 pounds. I decided that because that’s how much I wanted to weigh when I took my wife hand in marriage. After months of eating right, drinking plenty of water and consistently worked out I reached my goal and I weighed in at 245 pounds.
Reaching this goal was a milestone in my life. I never thought I would have obtained this goal. I always thought you had to be a gifted with a physic like you see on TV but now I know nothing is impossible. I am still working out because I actually have a bigger goal in the works now. With motivation and persistence I will be at my ultimate goal at becoming a fitness model.
