First, let me give you a little background about myself. I am a 26 year old, divorcee. I am a single mother of 2 daughters, ages 4 & 9. I am the only provider for my two children, their father is now over $10000 behind on child support.
I own and operate a small business with annual revenue between 300k-400k per year. My personal AGI for 2012 was near 40K.
We are from Alabama and moved to Louisiana in May of 2013. Prior to moving to Louisiana, my children were insured through Medicaid and I was insured via an Individual Insurance policy with BCBS of Alabama. This policy, which included dental, featured a premium of $148 per month.
I foolishly moved to Louisiana without researching the effect the move would have on my individual coverage with BCBS of Alabama. After I moved, BCBS immediately canceled my policy because I moved out of state.
Since moving to Louisiana, it has been determined that my children still qualify for Medicaid/LAChip, which is great news. However, I am still without insurance for myself.
My first attempt at using the healthcare.gov application was actually pleasantly surprising. Although the website was slow, I was able to complete the application for the insurance as well as the subsidies ( I qualify for a discount of $67 per month off of the price of my premium.) I was able to view and select my health and dental plans. As I was preparing to complete the enrollment, I thought, "Wow, I don't see what the big deal is. The media must be making this stuff up because I haven't experienced any of the problems being reported." Then it happened.
On what appears to be the last step, "Review and confirm your coverage," that step seems to be "locked." I cannot go any further. At the top is a caution banner that tells me to review my application details in the marketplace account to resolve any outstanding issues with my application. However, when I try to select the link provided, it circles me back to the application details page which tells me my application is complete. Everyday I check the website. Everyday, the module which I need to access to complete the enrollment is locked.
I have called the 800 number. The reps inform me that the website is experiencing "glitches" and to try again at another time.
