This iReport is part of an assignment:
CNN Fit Nation: 2014 Triathlon Challenge
Real Woman :-)
“I used to be in shape”
“I used to have time for myself”
“Between a husband, work, kids and running the house, I’m exhausted”
Are these statements unique to me? Nope. Is my story that different than any other working mom in her 30s? Doubt it. Did I have some major life event that makes me the perfect marketing story for Fit Nation? No way. So you’re probably asking … why pick her?
I will tell you why. Because I am every woman. Because there are thousands of us out there that have lost ourselves because we put family, kids, work and everything else ahead of ourselves. Because women need someone to show them that you can accomplish a major goal, get in shape and not sacrifice a thing. It is possible, we just need support.
So that’s where you come in, CNN. Pick me so that I can show the world that you can have 2 kids (3 if you count your husband ), a 50 hour a week job, run the household and find the time to do something as amazing as a triathlon.
Now I know one of the criteria is that entrants should not have done a triathlon before, which excludes me. But I would argue that the triathlons I did was a lifetime ago – almost a whole person ago. Which is what sells my story. I want you to help me get “me” back. And show people that you can get yourself back. AND I checked with the facebook page and they said it was ok
Let me represent real women in America. Pick me. Pick the “every day woman”. Show us all that we still matter, and someone still out there wants to help.
PS – I typed this while my 3 year old was doing my hair … my 9 month old was rolling a ball back and forth with me … the dog was whining to come in … and my husband was calling to say he was running late. PICK ME
