An Orange & Navy Reading Nook

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Interior design blogger EmilyAClark wanted to create a fun and relaxed spot for her kids to read. She transformed a portion of a her one-year-old twin’s nursery into a reading nook, which she decorated in orange and navy hues. “I used big throw pillows in the floor so they could get down and play without worrying about messing anything up. I like that this space isn’t too serious,” she explained. “I wanted it to be a spot that all five of our children could use for reading, playing, or just hanging out.’
    - CYDFISH7, CNN iReport producer

Although orange can be a little scary in large doses, it's one of my favorite accent colors to use. I like pairing it with deep neutrals, and orange is always fun in kids' spaces. In a reading spot I recently created for our nursery, I used orange on pilllows, in artwork (a copy of a vintage reading poster), and fabric for the back of the bookshelves. It added just the right amount of color to an overall navy and white scheme.
